Congress 2021: 2G concept in Berlin

We have good and, in particular, more concrete news: This year’s DGPPN Congress 2021 will be taking place again in the CityCube Berlin! Many of you missed the personal interaction and on-site communication last year. The purely digital version had certain advantages but could not exactly match the live experience. That is why the DGPPN has been working intensely for months to find a solution that combines the best of both worlds and at the same time meets our responsibility for the health of participants, speakers and all support staff.

The Berlin Senate has now created new opportunities for holding in-person congresses again with a larger number of people. This means that the DGPPN Congress can take place with several thousand participants by using a 2G concept. For anyone who cannot travel to Berlin, live streaming will be available. And like last year, videos on demand will also be offered, some of which will have their own CME certification. The videos will be available to everyone, regardless of whether you choose the Berlin+Online package or just the online package.

What does that mean in general?

The pandemic situation is and will remain unpredictable so the organisers, speakers and participants will all need to be flexible this year. At the moment, in accordance with the current legal requirements of the State of Berlin, we are planning to organise the DGPPN Congress as follows:

  • Admission to the CityCube only for people who are vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 (for each of these, appropriate proof needs to be shown on site)
  • Mask recommendation (no mask requirement; if you feel safer wearing a mask, please bring one and wear it)
  • Staggered seating in the lecture theatres (every third seat will remain unoccupied)

What does that mean for speakers and chairpersons?

The whole scientific programme will take place live on site. All speakers and chairs of a session will give their presentation in the CityCube Berlin as usual. The 2G regulation described above will apply. Please note that unfortunately no exceptions will be allowed; for technical and organisational reasons, pre-recorded or live digital presentations will not be possible.

Part of the programme will be livestreamed from the CityCube on the congress portal. Online participants will be able to send questions to the speakers and thus be interactively involved. The on-site audience will be able to submit questions to the speakers via the congress app.

What does that mean for participants?

Depending on which package you book when you register, you will have different options for participating:

Berlin+Online Package: You will have access to the CityCube in compliance with the 2G rule (see above) and you will also be able to use the live streaming option. This package also includes the video-on-demand option, which will be available after the congress. Workshops can also be booked for a fee. They will take place only on site.

Online-Package: Shortly before the start of the congress, the congress organiser will send you the login details for the congress portal, which you will also be able to use to submit questions to the speakers on site. The congress will be streamed from two rooms. This package also includes the videos on demand, which will be available after the congress.

As a gesture of goodwill, the DGPPN has adjusted the deadlines, as follows:

  • Free cancellation for everyone until 10.10.2021
  • After 10.10.2021, the cancellation fees listed in the General Terms and Conditions will apply
  • Extension of the early booking rate until 10.10.2021
  • Free change of package until 31.10.2021
That means: You can swap the Berlin+Online Package for the Online-Package and will receive a partial reimbursement.
And you can swap the Online-Package for the Berlin+Online Package by paying the difference.
